OverviewThe X-Files is a TV series that ran on FOX from 1993-2002 and details the adventures of Fox Mulder and Dana Scully as they explore strange phenomenon and uncover details of a government conspiracy. There are 9 seasons, each containing about 20 episodes, for a total of about 202 45-minute shows. There are two types of shows: "Conspiracy" episodes (about 1/3 of all the episodes), usually containing the iconic "Cancer Man" and advancing the running plot of government conspiracy. The other 2/3 are "Monster of the Week" shows, which are usually a plot spanning a single episode and can be watched out of order without worry. |
Fox Mulder (Played by David Duchovny) is a FBI special agent who believes in the existence of extraterrestrials and paranormal phenomena. He is often at the center of the conspiracy, and is driven to find his sister, who was abducted when Mulder was 12.
Dana Scully (Played by Gillian Anderson) is an FBI special agent, Medical Doctor and Mulder's partner. Often the skeptic, she was origionally assigned to debunk Mulder's work on the X-files, and attempts to apply science to the phenomena they face.
Walter Skinner (Played by Mitch Pileggi) is the assistant director of the FBI and is a powerful ally for Mulder and Scully as they fight the conspiracy which often threatens their lives, often risking his job and himself in the process.
(Played by Jerry Hardin) First appearing in the second episode of the show, this man is Mulder's source for important information throughout the first season.
First appearing in "EBE (S1E17)" this trio consists of two hackers and an ex-FCC PR worker. They publish a newspaper called "The Lone Gunman" and often help Mulder and Scully gain access to information and technical help as they explore the X-Files.
(Played by William B. Davis) Known only as, "The Smoking Man," or "Cancer Man," this shadowy character is the leader of a massive international government conspiracy; and Mulder and Scully's main foe.
