Client | A device which used to connect to the web. |
Web Page | A hypertext document connected to the World Wide Web. |
URL | The address of a World Wide Web page. |
HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) | A standardized system for tagging text files to achieve font, color, graphic, and hyperlink effects on World Wide Web pages. |
HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) | An application protocol for distributed, collaborative, and hypermedia information systems. |
ISP (Internet Service Provider) | A company that provides subscribers with access to the Internet. |
FTP (File Transfer Protocol) | Standard network protocol used for the transfer of computer files between a client and server on a computer network. |
Cookie | A small text file (up to 4KB) created by a website that is stored in the user's computer either temporarily for that session only or permanently on the hard disk. |
CSS (cascading style sheet) | A Web page derived from multiple sources with a defined order of precedence where the definitions of any style element conflict. |
LAN (local area network) | A network that connects computers and other devices in a relatively small area. |
